Our small-size classes and mock exams are set in COVID-secure environments. Our teachers are also specifically trained to prepare children for the GL Assessment 11 Plus exams for Buckinghamshire, Slough Consortium and Kendrick, the FSCE 11 Plus exam for Reading School, as well as independent school entrance exams and Common Pre-Tests.

Childcare Vouchers have been discontinued; can I still use them for 11+ tuition courses? 

If you are eligible for Childcare Vouchers (the scheme closed to new entrants on 4^th October 2018), we can accept your Childcare Vouchers for the payment of our 11 Plus courses. Alternatively, if you are eligible, you could use the new scheme, Tax-Free Childcare. Therefore, depending on when you joined the government scheme to help with childcare costs, it might have one name or the other. At Marie Redmond Tuition, we welcome payments under both schemes as well as by Direct Debit.

How much can I save with 11+ tuition Childcare Voucher and Tax-Free Childcare payments?

If you use Childcare Vouchers, the amount you can save will depend entirely on your tax rate and when you joined the scheme. With Tax-Free Childcare, parents receive a flat rate saving of 20%, including a maximum top-up of £2,000 by the government. For clarity purposes, we recommend reading the information made available by the government online and using the online childcare calculator to figure out your savings on childcare costs.

How do I pay for 11+ tuition?

We accept Childcare Vouchers, Tax-Free Childcare and Direct Debit as payment for our classroom-based courses.

Once you complete the registration form to enrol your child in our Year 4 and Year 5 tuition courses, you will be presented with the option to pay using either the tax saving schemes or Direct Debit.

Can I use Childcare Vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare to pay for virtual courses?

Unfortunately, you cannot use Childcare Vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare to pay for virtual courses (our book club and creative writing course). The Childcare Payments Act 2014 defines childcare as 'any form of care or supervised activity for a child'. Virtual learning does not qualify as childcare, as it is not a form of care and supervision, but a form of learning. This was confirmed in writing in a letter that we have seen from Rishi Sunak, in 2020 (when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer), to former Prime Minister Theresa May, in response to a question from one of Mrs May's constituents.

How do I book 11+ mock exams with Childcare Vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare payments?

To book mock tests, simply make the booking using a debit or credit card, then get in touch with us to let us know you would like to pay using Childcare Vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare. Our team will send you an invoice for your preferred method. Once the invoice is paid, we will refund the initial payment to your card.
