My son started just after February 2023 half term and he also did the Easter and Summer intensive courses and I am extremely pleased to say that he has passed and was accepted at Reading School (boys grammar). He did the 11+ with Marie Redmond in Winnersh which was an ideal location. Melanie his tutor was excellent. He also did book club and creative writing which gave him a wider vocabulary and a great opportunity to meet like-minded students of his age group which he really enjoyed.Highly recommend and we'll be looking at 11+ tuition when my youngest son reaches 10 years old.[From Google Review. My son joined Marie Redmond Tuition in year 5 last year and I’m really glad that he passed his 11+ GL exam with the right guidance and support. I would happily recommend others using Marie Redmond Tuition. The Book club and 11+ mock exams have been incredibly useful and the feedback from his course teacher Leanne made a massive difference in his progress. I would happily choose Marie Redmond Tuition in future for my little one who is currently in year 2 .[From Google Review. Thank you, considering the support that you, alongside Craig and the tutors, have provided my son with and opportunity for him to succeed. It is very well-designed with the rewards system that motivates, well-structured and the quality of the MRT resources, especially the challenging comprehension, VR vocabulary, vocabulary daily work, flashcards, and math from the superbrain books and worksheets which really tests your ability at a higher level. His creative writing has improved immensely with the techniques, and he oftens receives commendation from school, commenting that he will become an author (which he wants to). He is enjoying creative writing a lot, thanks to Anne and her expertise. He is an enthusiast for the book club - to receive a book voted for, that comes through the door is exciting to open, followed by questions, creative projects and chances to win prizes. We only wished this continued past the 11+. You have definitely triumphed in how to engage a child in the 11+ journey. As well as this, thank you for the guidance for myself in navigating through the process. It has been most useful seeing the progress he has made, clearly as evidenced in the SuccessTracker, from assessments to mocks, anonymous comparative results. As you can see, he has has progressed from strength to strength. I am proud and thank you for this. Regardless of his successes in the 11+, he has learnt a great deal and good learning habits and techniques.

Marie Redmond 11+ Tuition have been absolutely amazing during our time, their engagement during lockdown has been phenomenal they have been arranging additional sessions since over zoom as well as a book club which my child enjoys very much. Communication 100% exceeded my expectations I don’t think I can say we have never been informed. They are always happy to help and respond to my emails promptly during office hours. From registration to attending to lessons and organisation all dealt with in a professional manner. So glad we made the right choice with choosing Marie Redmond. Thank you so much to your team.

My son attended Marie Redmond's tuition classes, creative writing course and a book club last year. As English is not his first language all these courses helped him enormously, added so much confidence. His math skill improved noticeably. He succeeded in a complex series of assessments and received a place in his favorite boarding school. Thank you Marie. My younger daughter is awaiting to join your courses soon :)[From Google Review. Hi Marie, Sarah, Craig and all the team. I would like to thank you all for the support with Amália's 11+. She felt that she was well prepared for the exam this weekend. She enjoyed the weekly sessions and regardless of getting into the school of choice or not, she had a positive experience throughout the course. The Book Club was wonderful too.

FAQs About The Book Club
- Parents of term time students are contacted before their children start their course.
- If you would like to your child to join later, you can sign them up for the book club by contacting us.
The Zoom meetup takes place once per month, on a Sunday. For dates, please scroll down the page.
If you have booked a mock exam that takes place during your child’s usual book club session time, please contact us and we will move them to an alternative time slot for that day only.
The book club content is prepated by Marie Redmond and delivered by Anne; one of our qualified, experienced teachers and a passionate reader.
There are approximately 10 students in each book club meetup.
During the monthly book club meetups on Zoom, students take part in an online poll to choose the book. Once all of the meetups on the Sunday have taken place and we have combined the poll results, the chosen book is announced.
Re-reading books is an excellent way of developing comprehension and thinking more deeply about the plot, characters and vocabulary. As Oscar Wilde said, “If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
Your child will receive their book through the post.
We order your child’s book after the final Zoom meetup using the fastest available method. The delivery timing will depend upon stock availability but your child should expect to receive their book from the Tuesday onwards.
Every week, your child will receive a suggested reading schedule with questions to think about.
Every month there is a different creative activity, for example: to design a book cover, create a poster about a character or create a game linked to the book.
Each month, one book club member will win a prize for their creation. The winner is announced before the next meetup and they receive a £10 Amazon voucher.
In the 2024-25 academic year, the monthly charge is £25.
The book club is available to our term time students only.
All book club payments are required by Direct Debit or credit/debit card. As the monthly meetup takes place virtually, the government does not allow us to accept Childcare Vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare for the book club (click here to find out why).
Invoices are issued at the beginning of each month and due on receipt.
We will email you a separate monthly invoice for the book club on the 1st of each month and it will be due on receipt. The payment will cover the next book club session and the cost of the book.
Your child will be welcome to change the time of their Zoom call, subject to availability. Please contact us if you need to change times.
If you wish to cancel your child’s membership of the book club, you will need to let us know by the end of the month to cancel their attendance for the following month. For example, if you want their last meetup to be in February, you will need to cancel before the end of 28th February.
