We look for people who can explain challenging ideas clearly, spark a child’s interest and offer patient encouragement when something feels difficult. Above all, we choose teachers who care deeply about their students and take pride in their progress.
  • Many of our teachers come to us through personal recommendation, and many have taught with us for years. We value their expertise and trust their professional judgement. Each brings their own personality and teaching style, alongside a shared dedication to helping children feel supported, grow in confidence and enjoy learning.
  • All our teachers have undergone enhanced DBS checks and regularly undertake safeguarding and first aid training. These are essential foundations of the safe, supportive learning environment every child deserves.

Our Aylesbury 11+ tuition courses are limited in size

All our Aylesbury 11 Plus classes are limited in size (less than half the size of most independent school classes). Across our 11 Plus courses in 2025-26, classes averaged 8 students and never exceeded 10. A group of 8–10 provides the ideal balance: small enough for close monitoring and individual attention, yet large enough for healthy discussion, collaboration and a positive group dynamic.

We avoid groups of more than 10 because, although larger numbers may boost capacity, they inevitably reduce a teacher’s ability to monitor each child closely and provide the individual support we consider essential. We won’t compromise on teaching quality just to fit more children into a room.

Equally, we do not believe that extremely small groups or one-to-one tuition are automatically better. Effective 11+ preparation requires a carefully structured programme that prepares for every area of the exam in a balanced and systematic way. Children also benefit enormously from discussion, shared learning and working alongside motivated peers in a small academic group.

Discover the proven benefits of small class sizes.

Marie Redmond Tuition class size averaging 8 students, never more than 10

Homework designed for mastery and confidence

At Marie Redmond Tuition, we believe in providing homework that is both meaningful and manageable. Our thoughtfully designed tasks reinforce the skills taught during each 11 Plus tuition lesson, ensuring pupils are fully prepared for success. Homework is set to be completed for the next lesson, where it is reviewed, giving students the opportunity to deepen their understanding and address any challenges.

With many years of experience and a history of successful outcomes, we’ve refined our approach to homework, striking a balance that encourages consistent progress without overwhelming students or families.

The vast majority of parents say that we provide just the right amount of homework – carefully calibrated to meet students’ needs and prepare them thoroughly for the 11 Plus exams, whilst minimising unnecessary stress.

  • Our daughter studied with Marie Redmond from November last year and passed her 11+ exam this September. Due to Coronavirus we went for online tuitions, which was very convenient and just as good as face to face lessons. My daughter's teacher Anne was very professional, encouraging and helpful. We have had numerous books and exam materials posted to us by the staff, as well as small rewards and cards with encouraging words. During the summer we signed up for the intensive course and the mock exam, which was taught in Amersham. The whole experience was very positive. My daughter's confidence was boosted hugely and she felt very sure when she took the exam, which was the best mental state we could have wished for. She now enjoys her last year at primary school with reasonable ease because she has massively improved in maths. We can't thank M. E. T. enough for their excellent teaching, help and support. My son will be signing up in a few years time. Hopefully remote lessons will still be available as it's the best way in my opinion.

    Year 5 parent, Aylesbury (2022)

  • Thank you for sending this through. It is such a detailed report from Irene and a joy to read. Amelie really enjoyed her summer course and found it beneficial. I have read out Irene’s report to Amelie and she was pleased. In addition, thanks for also sending through the results of her mock exam. I really liked the breakdown of the results to see the areas we need to work on and the video explanations. It is really helpful. She did very well in some sections. Just a few more marks needed in others. Hopefully we can focus on the weaker areas to boost the marks a little for the main exam. She found it useful to practice under exam conditions and seeing the timings.

    Year 5 parent, Wendover (2023)

  • We are absolutely delighted to share that she has successfully passed her 11+ exam! She scored 127. This would not have been possible without the dedication, patience, and encouragement she received from your tutors. The feedback was always constructive, and your constant motivation really helped her grow in confidence. We are hopeful of nailing a seat in AHS!

    Year 6 parent, Aylesbury (2025)

  • I'm thrilled to announce that Yashvik has achieved success, scoring 136 in the exam. Appreciate all your support and encouragement these past two years.

    Year 6 parent, Aylesbury (2025)

  • Dear Marie, I hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to let you know that Amaan passed the 11+ and so we wanted to pass on our thanks to you and your team.I also wanted to add a special thank you to Craig; it can't be easy responding so promptly to all the messages asking questions to which we already had the answers buried somewhere in our inboxes in messages we hadn't read properly! Furthermore a big thank you to Irene for teaching and supporting Amaan throughout the year. You have competed the hat-trick as this means that thanks to MRT Sabina (2020), Misbah (2022) and Amaan have all passed the 11+ and made it to Grammar school. All being well Amaan will join his sisters on the Aylesbury bus from next September. The girls are incredibly happy at AHS and we are certain Amaan will feel the same at AGS. Entry to the grammar schools is the foundation for so much opportunity and promise in our children's lives and MRT was fundamental to getting them there. Best wishes and continued success to you and your team.

  • Thank you so much for your amazing resources and well structured course. Laya passed her 11 plus exam. Thank you Marie, and Irene for your support and excellent teaching.

    Year 6 parent, Aylesbury (2025)

  • She got a score of 137, so we are all absolutely delighted (she cried bless her). Huge thanks to you and your team for tutoring her through the process. Whilst she is undoubtedly intelligent, she has a patchy record in exams and the tuition built her confidence to the point where it was not an issue. I will be in touch next summer as her sister is currently in year 4, and we would like her to be tutored by you also in preparation for the exam. Thanks again and see you next year.

    Year 6 parent, Aylesbury (2020)

  • I write to share our good news with you. Layla passed ? As you know, Children are introduced to education and learning through play whereas the secondary transfer test is anything but that. The environment that you Guys have created helped support our efforts to focus Layla’s attention towards succeeding and for that, we are most grateful to you. Thank you. I trust you will help convey us thank you also to her Tutor, Irene.

    Year 5 parent, Tingewick (2024)

  • 'Rayan attends a local state primary school. He describes his school days as boring and he learns nothing. After an extensive search I found Marie Redmond. Luckily we were given a place for Rayan from Jan 2022. It’s a long drive for me during the weekend from Aylesbury to Stoke poges. However, within the last few months Rayan's knowledge has improved immensely. Rayan said he learns more at the tuition than at school. He is confident that he can face the 11 Plus. I am pleased that my long weekend journeys and coaching from Marie Redmond are worth every single penny we spend. I wish we knew about MR before when we were living in Northwest London for my oldest son. Absolutely a fantastic 11 Plus coaching institute.' [From Google Review. Amaya & Anjana was so pleased today to meet beautiful Afsheen on their 1st day. Afsheen too seems to be well prepared to welcome & support not only the kids but also the parents. • We are absolutely delighted with Aanjali's Bucks exam 11+ score of 147. She is very happy and has her heart set on going to Aylesbury High School. A big thank you to Irene, yourself and Craig for all the guidance, help and support you have given Aanjali for the past two years and our family, especially when my father passed away last year and you sent those beautiful flowers. We will definitely send our two other daughters to you when the time comes. Our middle daughter is currently in Year 1. Thank you again. We are very proud of Aanjali.

  • I've been meaning to email since our son, Oliver, finished his tutoring as I wanted to provide some feedback prior to the 11+ results coming out. Although the results are obviously important to us, our view of the tutoring and support he received isn't dependent on them. When we first looked at tutoring options, it felt overwhelming and we had no idea how we were going to make a decision. Luckily, we came across the Marie Redmond website and very quickly realised this was our preferred option. I'm happy to say that our initial positive impression was reinforced again and again during Oliver's year with you. We thought his teacher, Maeve, was fabulous and brought the right balance of humour, support and challenge. She got to know Oliver so quickly and easily identified his strengths and the areas where additional help would benefit. We found her very approachable as well and appreciated her guidance and advice. From a parent's perspective, the course organisation and communications were excellent. As a customer services manager myself, I understand the effort that goes into providing such clear and informative emails and messages to parents, and was very appreciative of them. We found the same for the summer course and mock exam we undertook. Although we don't yet know Oliver's result, we do know that we provided the absolute best support for him in preparation for the 11+. It was important to us that his first exam experience wasn't shrouded in anxiety and worry, and that he went into it feeling comfortable and confident. He did exactly that so first mission accomplished! We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Marie Redmond for the excellent experience we had. We ended the year with the same positive impression we started with, and won't hesitate to recommend you to others. Further update:  I wanted to ensure I provided feedback prior to the results for that reason, so other parents know that our view wasn't coloured by the eventual outcome. We are absolutely thrilled with Oliver's results - he scored 126 so is able to apply to grammar schools. Thank you again for all of the support for Oliver and us, over the last 12 months, we're so pleased with the outcome.
