We Provide More Insights!

With our unique marking system, QuickMark® by Marie Redmond, we share critically important insights (where relevant to your child), that could make all the difference to their 11+ outcome. This could include but not be limited to: poor concentration levels in the exam hall; general behaviour; incorrect answer sheet marking technique and skipped questions. Our students receive valuable feedback to ensure that in subsequent mock exams and in their real 11+ test, they won't make the same mistakes again.  Our software shares valuable insights to ensure that your child is fully prepared for their big day.

Free, Unlimited Changes for Greater Flexibility and Peace of Mind

With Marie Redmond Tuition you can make as many amendments to your child’s 11+ mock exam session as you wish, at no extra cost, either to an alternative 11+ mock test paper or your booking date. It’s easy to make a change too, and you can do so by simply logging into your account. All we require is at least 72 hours’ notice before the date of the 11+ mock exam booking you wish to change.

What Is the Difference Between Buckinghamshire and Kendrick GL-Style Exam Sessions A, B, C, D, E, F and G?

In short, the more exam sessions you book, the more practice your child will get.

What does each exam session include?

Each mock exam session (e.g. exam A) simulates the real 11+ experience as closely as possible, with the same level of difficulty, number of papers, length of papers, and timings. For instance, if your child takes the Buckinghamshire/Kendrick Exam A, they will sit two papers with a short break in between, just like the actual exam.

How many mock exams can my child sit?

Your child can sit as many exams as you wish. For example, if your child is preparing for Buckinghamshire, they can attend up to 7 exams (exams A to G). Each exam is unique as no questions are repeated. It is not possible to fit all question types into one exam and therefore, the more exam sessions your child attends, the more practice they will get. In total your child can sit up to 13 exams (7 for Buckinghamshire/Kendrick, 3 for Slough and 3 for Reading School) as we do not repeat any questions in our exams!

Do the exams need to be sat in order?

In most (but not all) cases, our exam season begins with paper A and ends with paper G. However, papers can be sat in any order. They are designed to reflect the real 11+ exam as closely as possible and therefore the difficulty level of each exam is the same.

  • Additional insights on your child from the exam hall (where relevant), including issues with concentration, answer sheet marking techniques and general behaviour.

As Close as Possible to the Actual Exams

11+ mock studentOne of our core aims is to get as close to the real exam papers as possible. That’s why, each and every year, we meet with students in order to gain useful insights into the actual exams. During these meetings we have in-depth discussions about the types of questions they encountered, including any new types that hadn’t been seen previously.

In addition, we also discuss the timing of sections and the layout of the papers and answer sheets. Following our feedback sessions, we annually adapt our 11+ mock exam papers to ensure your child is thoroughly prepared, and on course to achieve the best grades.

Feedback from students

In 2022 our students reported that Marie Redmond Tuition’s 11+ mock exams were very similar to the actual test. The prevailing view was that the 11+ mock tests were 'just like taking a mock exam'.

11+ Mock Exam Format

buckinghamshire and slough 11+ mock exam papers

  • All our Buckinghamshire and Kendrick (GL Assessment-style) 11+ mock exam sessions are 2 hours 30 minutes long.

  • In line with the GL-Assessment test, paper 1 covers verbal skills, including comprehension, English technical and verbal reasoning. Paper 2 covers non-verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning and maths.
  • Each 11+ mock test paper is approximately 50 minutes long (plus 10 minutes of practice questions), with a short break between the tests.
  • Our Buckinghamshire and Kendrick 11+ mock exams are held in strict exam conditions at carefully selected locations.

Marie Redmond Tuition® Mock Exams are designed to be as close as possible to the actual exams. Each year we meet with many of our students a week after they sit the 11+ tests to gain useful insights into the exams. What parents say about our 11+ mock exams

  • Marie Redmond Tuition is outstanding. The teachers and staff are very nice and helpful. They really want the children to do well. Our daughter absolutely enjoyed the tuition. She felt ready with no stress for the 11+ exams. The teachers encouraged the children to have lots of rest before the exams. There is opportunity for mock exams as well which I will recommend. My daughter's CEM results came and we were over the moon. So I will highly recommend Marie Redmond.[From Google Review. • Thank you for the feedback.  It was an excellent experience for us.  We live abroad (in Senegal) and it's the first time Miaka has had the opportunity to sit/prepare for a mock exam. We are actually on our way back to Senegal and will only be back to sit the exam.

    Year 5 parent, Senegal (2019)

  • Marie Redmond Tuition has been a good fit for both of our children, who attended weekly sessions through Year 5, a week’s summer course (including a mock test) and one additional mock test. Work was well structured and organised, feedback, materials and other admin. appropriate and timely. Tutors Sarah H (this year) and Anne (three years ago) provided friendly, pragmatic teaching and support and were responsive to questions asked before / after class (as were Marie and Craig via email). Mock tests helped with exam technique and timing (our son caught himself answering out of synch in the actual test, so the rehearsal experience was invaluable). Both children say it helped to prepare them well. We’re very pleased that both passed. We have already recommended MR Tuition to several friends and will do so again if asked.[From Google Review. • Anya enjoyed the classes she attended this week and we are pleased with how well she applied herself. She is very happy with the results of the mock test, especially as she wasn’t too thrilled about sitting the test on her birthday!

    Year 5 parent, Iver (2015)

  • I’m delighted to say that Connie passed her 11+ with a score of 167. Thank you very much for your contribution to that. We opted for your week long holiday course to kick start the ‘back to work’ moment. The structure and games that made up the classes plus completing the week with a mock were a great start to that process, just the right tone and content. In addition she chose to come to your one off Saturday class just before the exam on the Thursday and this too helped her with techniques for managing exam stress. Many thanks again and all the best for 2016.

  • Thank you for the feedback from the summer course. Your email was very reassuring and very much appreciated! Kirsten feels so much happier about the 11+ now that she’s done the mock exam, and sailed through the refresher course on Saturday. She says she’s not worried about it at all now which is a huge relief for us. Having the mock exam as part of the summer course was hugely beneficial for Kirsten because she now knows what to expect and also that she can do it. It has given her a much needed boost to her confidence. Kirsten really liked having Mandy as her tutor for the summer term and was pleased that she also taught the summer course. We are very grateful for Mandy’s tuition.

  • Thanks to you and the team and especially Sarah who’s been Will’s main teacher. We’ve been really impressed with the quality of the set up you have, the teaching and the overall tone. We are glad we moved him to a more structured learning environment. He has thrived and done very well in recent assessment and mocks. He’s anxious as you’d expect but has worked hard and couldn’t be better prepared, so what will be will be now!!

  • Thank you so much for sending us Sinead's report - that was lovely to read. I have to say that despite having to study for 4 days, instead of languishing in the sun, Flynn never complained once about going in so Sinead must have been doing something right! Those study sessions and the mock exam were so helpful for us because Flynn hasn't been externally tutored so getting independent assessments of where he's at can feel like a leap in the dark. It's been an investment very well spent in our opinion, so thank you for the very well organised and set up operation. The final point about focusing until the final exam has also been useful in persuading Flynn to keep going for a few more weeks! With very many thanks

  • Many Thanks Marie for the quick response. I'm really happy with the overall exam and feedback process.

  • I just wanted to express a big Thank You for the mock exam sessions that Kimora sat for. She has found them to be useful and she felt that you and the staff were very supportive. Kimora says that the mock exam gave her a better understanding what the actual GL exam will be like. She actually said that she enjoyed doing the mocks and found it very useful! We wish we were able to book more mock sessions but unfortunately, we will be travelling away to see their grandparents (who are in their 80s), so we are not able to book the remaining mock sessions.

  • I am pleased to say she did very well. She scored 145. The mock exam at the end of your course made me realise how under prepared she was. I always knew she had it in her, she just needed to practice and familiarise herself with the format of the questions. All the best and thank you

  • Thanks to Marie Redmond and team, my son passed his 11plus exam with flying colours, exceptional result. This is mostly due to the teaching and support of Marie Redmond and team and the dedication that my son put into each class, homework, intensive summer courses and mock exams for the 2 years he was enrolled with Marie Redmond. Marie Redmonds teaching methods have been fast paced but set at just the right level and tone, and without this fast paced teaching I dont think my son would have achieved exceptional results, as a mum I am flying high over the moon, with my son off course. Thankyou Marie Redmond and team for laying the solid foundations for my sons future journey in education, and because of this I have enrolled my other younger son![From Google Review. • Thank you very much for the mock test results. He is delighted with the score, and his improvement too. We would like to thank you for the help you have given him. As you know, my main aim was for him to feel more confident and well prepared for the test, which he certainly is now – thanks to your input last week.

  • Hi, thank you very much, that your mock exams were really helpful, my son had a good score he had 137.

  • My son received excellent support whilst preparing for the 11+. He attended the Year 4 and Year 5 term time classes as well as the mock exams which were very helpful in preparing him for the exam conditions. The communication and support we received was outstanding and I would highly recommend it to others. The teaching environment was both friendly and fun which kept my son highly motivated. • Hazel enjoyed the whole experience of attending the tuition. Especially, she said she was happy with the mock tests which enabled her to build confidence in the exam room. She found it helpful for her and felt relax in the exam rooms. I appreciate the incredible support from the tuition and from mock test.

  • She could not stop talking about it! I think writing the mock exams is bringing the reality of the exams to her mind.

  • He did very well in both the Bucks (140) and the Herts (237) Tests. Many thanks to you and your fantastic tutors for all the support and feedback. He attended your year 5 course, summer course and 2 mock tests and really improved over the last year. Things that were particularly helpful about your course: strong focus on vocabulary starting before the course had even begun, structured homework, rewarding them for their effort with the points and prizes system, regular testing so we could understand where our child’s weaknesses were and lots of question practice for technique. We look forward to seeing you again with our younger son.

  • I’m pleased to say she passed! She got a score of 129. I feel this accurately reflects the type of results she was getting in her mock exams. She had worked so hard over the summer and was over the moon with the result. She said straight away that it was worth all of the effort! Thank you and your team and I look forward to being back with my other daughter, next September.

  • Luke is enjoying relaxing after the 11+.  He did really well with a score of 152.  Thanks so much for all the input.  The term-time and summer courses were really useful.  He is really goal-driven and so having points and prizes to work towards really helped.  As were the mock exams, which allowed him to get a feel for the timing and experience of sitting an exam under pressure.  Thanks also to the fantastic tutor Sarah.

  • I just wondered if you could pass on a huge thank you to the ladies who administered the test at RGS in High Wycombe. My daughter Millie was quite upset and nervous when she arrived and they were so welcoming and made her feel so comfortable. This was exactly the reason we decided to do a practice test and Millie came out feeling a lot more comfortable about the whole experience and that is really down to the two ladies that we met there. Many thanks again.

  • I am very pleased to let you know that Houda passed the 11+! Thank you so much for your advice about her mock exam - you gave her confidence (and all of us!) to believe that she could do it! I will be sending my son to your tuition next year.

  • Hello Ansa & Marie, Thank you for this feedback, we were very happy with the progress Aiyarra made through the course and will continue to work on time questions with her. We were also happy she passed the Mock test and will be going through the answers with her once back from holiday, she will use this time away to completely de stress. Ansa thank you for the work you put in with Aiyarra and the course itself I know she said she enjoyed the course. Enjoy the summer

  • Thank you very much for marking and returning his mock test so quickly, and for the useful answer booklet you have emailed us. We will find it very helpful to go through the paper with him. I would like to say a big thank you for the course last week. As I mentioned when we booked, my son is a fairly shy boy and is not very confident with new people or in new situations. I was delighted to see him relaxed and happy after every session he did with Sarah, and he commented afterwards that it was fun as well as hard work. It is not an easy balance to achieve, so thank you for your thoughtful approach. It was a huge relief to see him being encouraged in such a friendly manner, as the last thing we wanted was to put undue pressure on him – that is why we chose your course, having had a good experience with our older son three years ago. The advice you have given us is very useful, and I would be grateful if you could pass this message on to Sarah as well, so she can see that we are grateful for her work with him.

  • My son started the Year 5 term-time course in 2021 Sep. A lot of thought has gone into choosing the books and resources and structuring the course, and it enabled my son to keep a steady pace though the year without any additional stress or strain. Regular assessments in the tuitions also helped us to focus on specific areas through the year, and with his teacher Naz's support, he was set for the tests by July. He also attended 2 mock exams, and it really boosted his confidence for the actual test. I am happy to report that he passed both the Bucks and Slough exams with flying colours![From Google Review. • Our daughter studied with Marie Redmond from November last year and passed her 11+ exam this September. Due to Coronavirus we went for online tuitions, which was very convenient and just as good as face to face lessons. My daughter's teacher Anne was very professional, encouraging and helpful. We have had numerous books and exam materials posted to us by the staff, as well as small rewards and cards with encouraging words. During the summer we signed up for the intensive course and the mock exam, which was taught in Amersham. The whole experience was very positive. My daughter's confidence was boosted hugely and she felt very sure when she took the exam, which was the best mental state we could have wished for. She now enjoys her last year at primary school with reasonable ease because she has massively improved in maths. We can't thank M. E. T. enough for their excellent teaching, help and support. My son will be signing up in a few years time. Hopefully remote lessons will still be available as it's the best way in my opinion.

  • Thank you, considering the support that you, alongside Craig and the tutors, have provided my son with and opportunity for him to succeed. It is very well-designed with the rewards system that motivates, well-structured and the quality of the MRT resources, especially the challenging comprehension, VR vocabulary, vocabulary daily work, flashcards, and math from the superbrain books and worksheets which really tests your ability at a higher level. His creative writing has improved immensely with the techniques, and he oftens receives commendation from school, commenting that he will become an author (which he wants to). He is enjoying creative writing a lot, thanks to Anne and her expertise. He is an enthusiast for the book club - to receive a book voted for, that comes through the door is exciting to open, followed by questions, creative projects and chances to win prizes. We only wished this continued past the 11+. You have definitely triumphed in how to engage a child in the 11+ journey. As well as this, thank you for the guidance for myself in navigating through the process. It has been most useful seeing the progress he has made, clearly as evidenced in the SuccessTracker, from assessments to mocks, anonymous comparative results. As you can see, he has has progressed from strength to strength. I am proud and thank you for this. Regardless of his successes in the 11+, he has learnt a great deal and good learning habits and techniques.

  • I’d like to update you that Devkrish was successfully offered a place at the Royal Grammar School (first choice). He did attend a couple of your summer courses and mock exams which he found very useful. He enjoyed the sessions organised for the mock exams. Devkrish looks forward to excel in an academic environment. Thanks a lot.

  • 'I can highly recommend Marie Redmond 11+ mock exams 100% as it takes doubts and seconds thoughts away and helps kids improve their confidence and self belief. My son also took an intensive week course in Early, two weeks before the exam and all his tutors, specially Suzanne [Suzannah] were very kind and attentive to both of us. As a parent I can also recommend the guidance and support I got from Craig MacLennan who answered all my emails promptly. Thank you to all the team at Marie Redmond for making this journey easier to both parents and children. Kind regards, YM'[From Google Review.
